How to order a free flooring sample
- Find a floor you like and open its product page

- Repeat for any other floors you want to compare
- Check out as normal. There is nothing to pay
Your basket shows which floor each sample is for, so there is no risk of mixing them up when they arrive.
How to compare flooring samples properly
Wood, laminate and vinyl all shift in appearance depending on the light falling on them. A few minutes spent testing properly will tell you more than any photograph.
Look at them where the floor is going
Carry the sample into the actual room rather than judging it at the kitchen table. Lay it flat on the existing floor, not held up at an angle, because flat is how you will see it every day.
Check it at three times of day
Morning light, afternoon light, and under your artificial lighting in the evening. Greys in particular can look warm at midday and cold after dark. Oiled and lacquered finishes reflect light differently, so the same colour can read quite differently between the two.
Hold it against what is staying
Put the sample next to your skirting, doors, kitchen units and anything else you are not replacing. Most regret comes from a floor that works on its own but fights with the woodwork around it.
Remember the scale
An A5 sample cannot show you how a pattern reads across a whole room. Herringbone and chevron look busier on a sample than they do laid out, because you are seeing the repeat close up. Look at the room-set photograph on the product page alongside the sample in your hand.
Order the full quantity in one go
Shade varies slightly between production batches. Ordering a few extra packs later is the most common cause of a visible mismatch. The flooring calculator on every product page works out exactly how much you need, including an allowance for cuts.
Free flooring samples: frequently asked questions
How much do flooring samples cost?
Nothing. Samples are free of charge and so is the delivery.
How big are the samples?
A5, cut from the real product. Big enough to show the grain, the colour and the finish, and to hold against your skirting and doors.
How long do samples take to arrive?
Samples are dispatched next-day.
Can I order more than one sample?
Yes. Comparing two or three side by side in the same light is the best way to choose. Add a sample from each product page you are interested in, then check out once.
Will the sample match the floor I receive?
Samples are cut from the real product, so the colour and finish are accurate. Wood is a natural material and shade varies slightly between production batches, which is why we recommend ordering your full quantity at once rather than topping up later.
Do I have to order the floor afterwards?
No. There is no obligation at all.
What if I am still not sure?
Order both. There is no charge, and no limit on ordering again later. If you would rather talk it through, get in touch and we will help you narrow it down.
